Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize autonomic dysreflexia (AD) and formulate an approach to its management
- Describe the anatomy and physiology of the autonomic nervous system relevant to AD in people with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
- Recognize the most common signs and symptoms of an AD episode
- Discuss the treatment for AD and related resources.

The content of this course was derived from clinical practice guidelines and expert consensus.
There are regional variations in the laws governing the scope of practice of health care professionals (MD, RN, EMTs, and paramedics) and in the availability of treatment that must be considered prior to implementing treatment for autonomic dysreflexia among patients with spinal cord injury .
